Gardeners lose half their season to a phone they can't hear.

Mowers drown out everything.

You can't hear the phone over a strimmer, and gloves and gauntlets don't help. Every missed call in March is a customer for the whole season — gone.

Regular slots get booked elsewhere.

Customers want a fortnightly slot. They ring three gardeners and book the one who answers. Voicemail loses you the recurring revenue.

Landscaping quotes need a chat.

New patio, fencing, a redesign — none of it fits in a voicemail. The serious customer rings the next gardener on the list.

Outhour knows what to ask a gardening customer.

For every call
  • What's the work? (one-off tidy, regular maintenance, landscaping)
  • Garden size — small, medium, large?
  • Postcode and access (gate width, side access)?
  • Best number to reach them?
For regular maintenance
  • How often — weekly, fortnightly, monthly?
  • Mowing, hedges, weeding, or all of it?
  • Do they have green waste bins or need it taken away?
  • Books a first visit into your calendar
For one-offs and landscaping
  • What needs doing? (overgrown garden, fencing, patio, decking)
  • Rough size or length?
  • When are they hoping for it?
  • Books a quote visit
WHATSAPP

Here's a Saturday morning enquiry.

Customer
Hi, my garden's gone wild over winter and I need someone to sort it out, then keep on top of it
Outhour
No problem — happy to help. Roughly how big are we talking, and is there side access for a wheelbarrow?
Customer
Average semi, side gate is standard width, garden's maybe 10m long
Outhour
Great. For the tidy, are we talking mow, hedges, weeding, or all of it?
Customer
All of it really, hasn't been touched since October
Outhour
Understood. What's your postcode?
Customer
S11 8FD
Outhour
You're in our area. Tom can come Wednesday morning to do the initial tidy, then drop it onto a fortnightly slot from there. Does that work?
Customer
Yes please, fortnightly's ideal
Outhour
Booked in for Wednesday. What's your name and is this the best number?
Customer
Emma Clarke, yes this one
Outhour
Cheers Emma — Tom will text you Tuesday evening to confirm the time.

FAQ

Common questions

Can Outhour set up regular maintenance slots?+

Yes. It asks how often the customer wants visits, what work each visit covers, and books the first one into your calendar. You can decide the recurring schedule when you confirm.

What about weather cancellations?+

If you mark a day as rained-off in your dashboard, Outhour can text customers to reschedule. You stay in control of when to call it off.

Does it handle landscaping enquiries differently to maintenance?+

Yes. Outhour asks about the project, the rough size, and the timeline, then books a quote visit rather than a working visit.

Can it ask about access and parking?+

Yes. Side access width, parking restrictions, and whether the customer has green waste bins are standard questions you can switch on.

I don't take card payments. Will Outhour push me to?+

No. Outhour follows however you already get paid — cash, bank transfer, or invoice — and tells the customer the same.

Back to the borders. We'll catch the calls.
